Hiking
On foot paths you can discover the whole beauty of the island. Tenerife is an island of extraordinary variety offering spectacular hiking terrain for all levels of expertise.
Northern Tenerife is a walkers' paradise. Every walker who visits the north of the island is overwhelmed by its beauty - there are spectacular views of ridges and coast and fantastic rock formations. The contrast of the volcanic lunar landscape to the magnificence of the luxurious woods is awesome. Furthermore, the grandeur of the Masca Gorge makes it an attraction in its own right (reported to us by many experienced Gorge walkers as being "Almost, if not THE best in the world".
Tenerife has four main walking areas:
Anaga mountains
The Anaga Mountains constitute an extensive protected area of high ecological value. These beautiful mountains boast a wide botanical wealth, with one of the most representative samples within the entire archipelago. Be prepared for surprise. Expect stunning views. Walk along quiet paths, decked with flowers like the Canarian Bell which hides its beauty in shade and under leaves. Bird lovers might see the splended kestrel or the tiny pippet.
Teno mountains
One of the most fascinating and botanically most interesting areas of the Teno mountains is doubtless the Masca gorge Barranco de Masca. The slopes are covered with tabaiba and opuntia, there are steep ascends and descends, gigant basalt rocks, vast pebble and a small brook accumulating at some points to little 'ponds'.

Guided tours are being offered by all tour operators. If you want it a little more thrilling and not just for tourists you can ask us for local guides.
With Patea Tus Montes - Senderismo y Aventura S.L. for example, you will not only discover the most beautiful regions of the island, but also practise your Spanish, as their target group are young canarian people.
