Tenerife is known as the Island of Eternal Spring. It is the largest of the Canary Islands and has a pleasant temperature all year round. With average water temperatures of 19° C in winter and 22° C in the summer you can go swimming at any time of year. The hottest months are July, August and September when the average temperature varies from 24° to 26°C. The nights are normally not cooler than 19°C. In winter the daytime temperature is around 19° C, but you should bring a sweater or jacket because it can be chilly at night. The north is sometimes cloudy which makes the climate more pleasant than in the south. It is still important to use sun lotion. If you come during the winter you might be lucky and see the Teide covered with snow.
Clothes During summer you need only light clothes but it sometimes rains so bring your umbrella. For winter bring sweaters and a jacket. If you are planning to go into the mountains it can be cold due to the altitude so bring appropriate clothing. |
