Linguistic preparation

To work as an intern in the Canary Islands you need to be able to speak Spanish. The language level depends on the area in which you want to work in the hotel. In departments such as Administration, Marketing, and Assistant Management a high level is required (Level B1). For an internship in bars and restaurants, basic knowledge is enough. In reception and customer service they normally require an intermediate level (A2).

To give you the best preparation for the job we offer different intensive courses with a focus on “Tourism & Hospitality” or “Business Spanish” with 20 or 30 lessons a week. These courses are for beginners as well as intermediate students for a term of four to twelve weeks. We would be happy to advise you, with no obligation, on the course you require.

We recommend the following courses for:

Interns with no knowledge:
Our four to five weeks Intensive course with 20 or 30 lessons a week offers you the right start for learning a new language. Your vocabulary and grammar knowledge will rapidly increase. You will gain a good working knowledge of the language for everyday situations.
Following this we recommend a course with the focus on “Tourism & Hospitality” or “Business Spanish” (four to eight weeks) as an excellent preparation for your internship. Using special texts, relevant vocabulary, video tapes, etc you will have the best possible preparation to handle the different situations in your new job.

Interns with basic knowledge (beginning with level A2):
If you already have some Spanish knowledge you can reinforce that with our four to eight week courses in “Tourism & Hospitality” or “Business Spanish”. We offer these courses at two different levels and it will give you a good preparation for your internship in a hotel or other companies.
