Paragliding

Tenerife, due to it´s excellent meteorological and orographical conditions and beautiful nature is a paradise for paragliding flying. Enjoy this incomparable feeling to hover and look at Tenerife´s whole beauty with birds´ eye view.

Tenerife has many areas where you can fly. The best liked are the following:

Izaña North
The take off is from an altitude of 2100 m. The landing will be at the beach of Puerto de la Cruz. During the flight, you will see the vulcano Teide, the whole Orotava Valley as well as a unique perspective of Lake Martiánez and Loro Parque.

Izaña South
The take off is from an altitude of 2100 m and the landing will be at the Port of Güimar or at Caletillas Beach. You will fly over the Ravine of Badajoz and the hillside of Güimar (there will be another take off). Later you can take a look into the crater of Montana Grande and appreciate a magnificant panoramic view of the coast. The landscape in this part of the island is more desertic that the north one.

Taucho or Jama
Both flights are in the south of Tenerife. The take off in Taucho is from 800 m altitude and the landing at 250 m. You will fly over the Barranco del Infierno (hell´s canyon), Tenerife´s most popular foot path. Jama is situated at San Lorenzo´s Valley. The take off is from 960 m altitude and the landing at 420 m. Both flights are thermal flights because of the deserted orography in the south.

The El Cardumens Paragliding Club
If you feel like trying this sport but don’t want to go through the full training course this club will take you on a 40 minute “Tandem flight”. You fly with an instructor who has at least 15 years experience. This form of flying was introduced to give novices the sensation of free flight but with security of a professional pilot.

Ibrafly Club
This paragliding club was founded in 1990 and was the first official paragliding school in Los Realejos and later in Los Silos. The ideal behind the club was to make this dramatic sport available to a wider audience. Since this time the club has been teaching enthusiasts from all over the world. The location of the island in the Atlantic and landscape of Tenerife with its dramatic mountains makes a unique meteorological microclimate ideally suited to paragliding.
