The test of constitutional and cultural knowledge of Spain, CCSE, is intended for all those who wish to obtain the Spanish citizenship.
Who can apply for Spanish citizenship?
All foreign citizens who have reached 18 years of age, have full legal capacity to act and are residents in Spain (and non-residents Sephardic Jews) can apply. For further details regarding the requirements for the process of obtaining the Spanish citizenship, please visit the website of the Spanish Ministry of Justice.
Amongst other requisites, applicants will be required by law to pass the two exams developed and administered by the Cervantes Institute as well as accredited Spanish language centres members of the FEDELE Association:
- The exam that certifies a basic knowledge of the Spanish language: Spanish language certificate DELE A2 or higher.
- The exam that certifies specific knowledge of the Spanish Constitution as well as social, cultural and current affairs of Spain: CCSE exam (Constitutional and Sociocultural Knowledge of Spain).
How to register?
Who is exempt?
Citizens of countries or territories where Spanish is the official language, are exempt from the Spanish language exam DELE.
Minors and individuals under guardianship are exempt from both exams.
Where and when can you take the CCSE exam?
Take the test at FU INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY TENERIFE. CCSE exams are held every last Thursday of every month, except in August and December, when there will be no calls for the exam.
The CCSE exam takes place at 18:00h and 20:00h (local time). Candidates must arrive at the exam centre at 17:30h / 19:30h at the latest, carrying their passport or identity document with photo, to verify their identity.

How much does the exam cost?
The exam costs 85€ (eighty five Euros). This fee will be subject to revision on a yearly basis. Payments are handled by the Cervantes Institute and should be paid directly through their online application. For more information, visit https://ccse.cervantes.es/
The registration fee is valid for two exam sittings, in the event of:
- not being able to sit the exam on the first call; or,
- not passing the exam at the first attempt

Where can I prepare the exams?
Prepare for the exams at FU INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY.
We are a Spanish language academy accredited by the Cervantes Institute and, as such, we are part of the network of associated centres that comply with the quality standards established by the SACIC (Cervantes Institute Quality Accreditation System for ELE Centres), the only existing international quality certification which is exclusively focused on the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language.
As a language centre accredited by the Cervantes Institute and member of FEDELE, we qualify to:
- Offer preparation courses for the DELE A2 – C1 exam.
- Offer preparation courses for the CCSE exam.
