Our blog post series “What we love about Tenerife” – Part 1: Mari Carmen
Tenerife… what shall I say about my beloved island? I have visited many places all over the world which were interesting, beautiful and unforgettable, but none of them could top my Tenerife. The insulars feel a deep connection with the island, they feel like children of father Teide and we have many reasons for not leaving him.
The breeze, the warmth and the microclimates we have, thanks to the trade wind, create a unique climate which cannot be compared to any other climate zone and make it possible that Tenerife is able to offer the eternal spring to tourists as well as locals. Today it might be rainy but tomorrow the sun will rise again, that’s how a spanish saying goes.
I think the climate is the main reason for one of the things I like most, the sunsets. They are unbelievable, great and show the power of the light which we can only enjoy in our degree of latitude. Red, yellow, pink, orange and all of their shades decorate the dawn and welcome the blue sky which serves us an eternal ceiling full of stars.
Thus, I enjoy going to one of the many places to view the daily wonder of nature while enjoying a nice cocktail. For this the best places are Las Terrazas del Sauzal, Sunset 290, Mirador de Humboldt, Bar Alberto’s and of course the beach.
I advise you to view the sunset from the beach. Take some friends, or even go there by yourself and don’t forget to take some beers or your favorite wine.
As for our beaches, Socorro, Jardín, Martianez or Bollullo in the North and El Médano, La Tejita, Las Vistas, Fañabe, El Duque or La Caleta in the South give you the opportunity to observe this breathtaking spectacle.
It is a unique moment which completely thrills you and which will remain with you for a lifetime. As soon as you are back home and you are feeling lonely or stressed, just close your eyes and remember this unforgettable sunset on Tenerife and you will no doubt feel better.
