Our blog post series “What we love about Tenerife” – Part 2: Amaia
One year ago I got a job offer in Tenerife, more precisely, in Puerto de la Cruz. I thought, so what, the job is more important than the place.
But then I arrived at the airport Los Rodeos where I took a bus which brought me to the job interview. The way along the highway left me speechless. I was impressed by the grandness of the mountains, the snow covered Teide crowns this spectacle with an intensive green which stands in contrast to the deep blue of the ocean. This landscape still affects me today.
Since I am from Navarre mountaineering runs in my blood. Climbing or just walking through the valleys, Teno, Masca, Los Gigantes and of course the Teide became an unique and difficult challenge . Especially if you enjoy a beer at places like the viewpoint De Humboldt or La Cruz de Hilda or have dinner at one of the many “Guachinches” or tavernas after completing this challenges you will never forget these moments.
In this one year as an inhabitant of Tenerife I have learnt what Tenerife really is. Tenerife is energy, it is contrast, it is beach as well as mountains. It is sun and rain, it is sports, peace, great people, culture and tradition, history and gastronomy. It is, for sure, a great quality of life.
I did not regret coming and staying here. I am looking forward to exploring thousands of new places here and to learning a lot of amazing new things.
