Spanish Constitution Day
After 36 years of Francisco Franco’s fascist dictatorship (01.04.1939- his death on 20.11.1975), Spain was in need of a new constitution and a new political system. The elections were held on June 15 1977 and the newly formed parliament created a new constitution. On December 6 in 1978 in a referendum 88% of the people in Spain voted in favor of the new Spanish Constitution and that’s why the 6th December is celebrated every year. This year is the 40th anniversary!
